Technology offers powerful opportunities to connect, empower and support people, but it can also be misused to cause harm. In the context of gender-based violence, digital tools can facilitate and amplify abuse such as online harassment, non-consensual sharing of intimate images or cyberstalking.

This presentation examines key challenges and policy responses in Belgium, aimed at strengthening prevention, protection and access to justice.

Ellen De Pauw

Ellen De Pauw works as a policy officer at the Institute for the equality of women and men in Belgium. Her work centers around preventing and combating gender-based violence through policy initiatives and projects, with particular focus on tech-faciliated gender-based violence, such as image-based sexual abuse and tech-facilitated intimate partner violence, and feminicide.
