Bio Marijke Weewauters

Marijke Weewauters is the senior strategic advisor of the Institute for the Equality for Women and Men. She is the genderexpert in the Belgian Interministerial Conferences on Women's Rights.

She represents Belgians Institute for equality for women and men in various international institutions, as EIGE’s expert forum, EFJCA advisory board, Equinet, COPA: the Council of Europe's monitoring body on the Istanbul Convention and the European network on prevention of genderbased violence. She is currently co-hosting the European gender-equality network of Equinet.

As liaison officer, she maintains close relations with civil society and national and international stakeholders.

She was Belgian negotiator in the International Labour Conference on ILO Convention 190 and Belgian representative in the CSW session and CEDAW hearings.
