Title of the project

EVIVICO International – Strengthening Professional Practice in Intimate Partner Lethal Risk Assessment across Europe

Project duration

7 months

Target groups

EVIVICO and its training program target professionals from all sectors confronted with intimate partner violence in the course of their work: social workers, psychologists, healthcare providers, educators, police officers, legal professionals, child protection workers, and more. No specific sector is excluded.

Project summary

This project aims to strengthen the professional response to critical situations of intimate partner violence by expanding the reach of the EVIVICO tool — a multidimensional intersectoral assessment instrument specifically designed to evaluate the risk of irreversible acts in situations of intimate partner violence, including femicide, suicide, child murder, and child abduction.

Unlike general risk assessment tools, EVIVICO is intended for high-risk cases, where the probability of occurrence combined with the level of dangerousness requires a structured, in-depth evaluation across six dimensions : the relational and contextual dimension, the violence dimension (including coercive control, strangulation and violence towards animals), the perpetrator dimension, the victim dimension, the children dimension, and the expectations and intentions dimension.

The project focuses on two core activities: the professional translation of the EVIVICO tool (Version 2) into Dutch, English, and Spanish, and the development of a series of six training videos covering all dimensions of the tool in depth.

Together, these activities aim to make this specialised instrument accessible to a broader professional audience across Europe, supporting a more structured and evidence-informed intersectoral response to the most critical situations of intimate partner violence. The final goal is to prevent lethal events in high-risk intimate partner cases.

Project activities

1. Translation of EVIVICO tool in Dutch, English, Spanish
This activity focuses on the translation of the EVIVICO tool into Dutch, English, and Spanish, in order to broaden its accessibility and use across different linguistic and national contexts. The EVIVICO tool is a multidimensional assessment instrument designed to support practitioners working with high-risk cases of intimate partner violence.

2. Online course about EVIVICO and lethal risk assessment (feminicide, suicide, child abduction and child murder risk)
This activity consists of developing a series of training videos dedicated to the EVIVICO tool, a multidimensional assessment instrument designed to support practitioners working with high-risk cases of intimate partner violence.

=== Qualitative results ==

1. Translation of EVIVICO tool in Dutch, English, Spanish
By making it available in three additional languages, this activity aims to facilitate its adoption by professionals across Europe and beyond, ensuring that more concerning domestic violence cases can benefit from a structured, evidence-informed approach to lethal risk assessment and safety planning.

2. Online course about EVIVICO and lethal risk assessment (feminicide, suicide, child abduction and child murder risk)
The qualitative assessment of results will be carried out through a short online evaluation questionnaire. The questionnaire will be developed using Google Forms for instance and will include both closed and open-ended questions covering the following areas:

  • Overall satisfaction with the training content
  • Perceived clarity and relevance of each video
  • Self-assessed increase in knowledge and confidence regarding the use of the EVIVICO tool
  • Perceived applicability to assess lethal risk in intimate partner violence cases

Quantative results

1. Translation of EVIVICO tool in Dutch, English, Spanish
Delivery of the translated tool in 3 languages (Dutch, English, Spanish), by a professional translator and validated by practitioners familiar with the tool

2. Online course about EVIVICO and lethal risk assessment (feminicide, suicide, child abduction and child murder risk)
Number of views of the online videos; results of the end-of-course evaluation questionnaire
