Towards a Strong Start – Building the FJC in Bonaire
Organization
Fundashon Sentro Akseso Bonaire
The construction of the Family Justice Center (FJC) on Bonaire is well underway and expected to be completed in the second quarter of this year. In preparation, core chain partners—including the police, women’s shelter, the Advice and Reporting Center on domestic violence and child abuse (HGKM), social work, and youth care—have been actively collaborating over the past years. This has led to the development of a detailed Business Case for the FJC.
The project focuses on creating an integrated, client-centered approach that ensures victims of domestic and gender-based violence receive coordinated, high-quality support. Key components include joint training, team building, a clear division of roles, and shared methodologies across organizations.
Planned activities include:
- Stakeholder sessions to build and maintain a shared vision for cooperation within the FJC;
- Specialized training for professionals on multidisciplinary responses, including risk assessment and legal frameworks;
- In-depth sessions tailored to the specific dynamics and context of domestic and gender-based violence on Bonaire.
To guarantee a strong launch, the project is dedicated to hiring expert trainers and coaches—primarily from experienced FJCs—ensuring a well-prepared team and a unified, effective response model that meets the needs of victims from day one.
