Bio Berte van Heemst

Berte van Heemst is public prosecutor in the district of Rotterdam, the Netherlands. She is coordinating prosecutor on domestic violence and stalking/harassment.

Her work includes collaborating with chain partners, evolving the multidisciplinary approach of (high risk) cases of domestic violence and leading criminal investigations in high risk and complex cases of domestic violence and (ex-partner)stalking.

She also trains her colleagues and others (e.g. police, parole officers) to recognize red flags and other signs that might indicate a high risk of femicide.
